What we publish
The archive records four things about a person: a name, a profession, a birth date, and — where it is publicly documented — a birth year. Optional fields include birthplace, a short description and a link to a reference article.
Sourcing
- Encyclopedic references, primarily Wikipedia and its cited sources.
- Published interviews, official biographies and press material.
- Publicly maintained birthday lists, used as a starting point and then checked.
Where sources conflict, we prefer the version supported by the strongest reference and leave a field blank rather than guess. Entries without a documented birth date are excluded from date pages.
Verification
Dates are validated against the calendar (invalid combinations such as 31 April are rejected). A birth year is only shown when it is recorded in the source. Ages are derived from the birth year and are therefore approximate around the person's birthday.
What we do not do
- We do not publish home addresses, phone numbers or private contact details.
- We do not publish speculation about health, sexuality, relationships or legal matters.
- We do not invent engagement metrics such as votes, wishes, rank scores or live counters.
- We do not accept payment to add, remove or reorder a person in the archive.
Living people
For living people we limit the record to professional information and publicly documented birth details. If you are the subject of an entry and want it corrected, reduced or removed, see the corrections policy.
Images
Portraits are processed into a consistent duotone style and used to identify the subject. They are not sold and are not offered for reuse. Rights holders can request removal at any time.
Updates
The dataset is rebuilt from source at regular intervals. Corrections received by email are applied to the dataset and appear on the next build.
